The Region

The North Otago Modern School of Music covers Oamaru, Kurow, Otematata. As yet, teachers are only available in Oamaru, with a mobile piano teacher available some of the weekend and Monday, travelling north from Oamaru to Timaru later on Monday. A guitar teacher is teaching guitar evening classes at Waitaki Boys' High.

Tuition is currently available in the following instruments

Guitar
Bass Guitar
Recorder

The emphasis of the courses is upon improvisation and creative work and the pupils are encouraged to develop their own performance style building upon a sound theoretical base. The enjoyment of all types of music is the prime goal of the NZ Modern School of Music.

Mid-South Island Competitions
Date: July 2006
Location: Gleniti Baptist Church, 58 Gleniti Rd, Timaru.
Entry forms will be available from NZMSM Competitions, 16 Preston St, Timaru, in term 2 2006.
Competitors must be current students of the New Zealand Modern School of Music.
