The Region

The South Canterbury Modern School of Music covers Timaru, Temuka, Pleasant Point, Geraldine, Waimate, Fairlie, Tekapo and Twizel. Music is currently taught in the following schools:

St Josephs, Fairlie
Albury Primary
Mackenzie College
Fairlie Primary

Tuition is currently available in the following instruments

Piano
Keyboard
Guitar (acoustic and electric)
Bass Guitar
Piano Accordian
Recorder
Clarinet
Saxophone

The emphasis of the courses is upon improvisation and creative work and the pupils are encouraged to develop their own performance style building upon a sound theoretical base. The enjoyment of all types of music is the prime goal of the NZ Modern School of Music.

Mid-South Island Competitions for 2009
Date: 4 July 2009
Location: Gleniti Baptist Church, 58 Gleniti Rd, Timaru.
Entry forms will be available from NZMSM Competitions, 10a Nile St, Timaru, in the second term 2009. Entries close 7 June 2009.
Competitors must be current students of the New Zealand Modern School of Music.
